Resize PDF Pages
Fit PDF pages to A4, Letter or custom sizes locally, with centered content and clear margins.
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your data is never uploaded, never stored, and never leaves your device.
Fit mixed or rotated PDF pages onto A4, Letter or custom paper with proportional scaling, centred margins and a local fit preview.
How to use it
- 1Open an ordinary PDF and select target paper or literal custom dimensions.
- 2Set the margin and enlargement option; inspect the fit and output size.
- 3Create a resized PDF and review the downloaded copy before printing.
What happens to your data
PDF processing stays in your browser. This is layout fitting, not text reflow or secure redaction. Forms, signatures and annotated pages are unsupported.

Resize PDF pages to a consistent A4, US Letter, Legal, A3, A5 or custom paper size. This tool fits each page's visible content proportionally inside a chosen margin and centres it on the new paper. Mixed input sizes and declared quarter-turn rotations are accounted for individually. A local fit preview shows how a representative original page sits inside the target sheet.
Changing PDF page size is different from compressing a file or reflowing text. A Letter page fitted to A4 keeps its layout and proportions; it may gain blank space. A landscape page fitted onto portrait paper can become smaller. Paragraphs are not rewritten, and no attempt is made to guess a better reading layout. Use PDF Compress to reduce file weight, or edit the source document if you need different line breaks.
How it works
Choose a paper preset and portrait or landscape orientation, or enter literal custom width and height. Custom dimensions are never silently swapped: enter a width greater than height for landscape. Measurements can use millimetres, inches or PDF points; one inch is 72 points. Changing units converts the current custom dimensions and margin so it does not intentionally change their physical size. Standard A4 is 210 × 297 mm; US Letter is 8.5 × 11 inches.
Each page's visible CropBox is intersected with its MediaBox. Declared rotations of 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees determine its displayed width and height. The smaller of the horizontal and vertical available-space ratios controls the scale, so content fits inside the margin without stretching. Smaller pages remain at their original size unless Allow enlargement is enabled. Any additional space is split equally on opposite edges; the selected margin is a minimum, not a promise that every edge has identical blank space.
The output embeds supported original PDF content into a new page instead of deliberately rasterizing the whole document. Selectable text and vector drawings can remain sharp. Content outside the source's visible crop is clipped in the visible output, but this is not certified removal of hidden data. The result preserves page count and order and uses the same target dimensions on every page.
Files are limited to 25 MB and 300 pages; output is limited to 50 MB. Each target edge must be 30–14,400 points, and the margin must leave a positive area inside both edges. Encrypted or damaged PDFs, detected interactive form/signature structures, non-standard UserUnit pages and pages with annotations or links are refused. Flatten/export a separate ordinary PDF from its source application if appropriate. Bookmarks, attachments and logical labels do not transfer. Keep the original, inspect the downloaded PDF and test the receiving printer's own scaling settings.
Worked example: fit Letter pages onto A4 without stretching
- Input
- A 612 × 792 point US Letter page; target A4 portrait; minimum margin 10 mm; enlargement off.
- Result
- A 595.28 × 841.89 point A4 page. Content is scaled to about 88.0%, centred, with at least 10 mm on every edge.
Vertical space is larger than the minimum because the source and target have different proportions.
Common use cases
- Giving a merged report consistent A4 or Letter paper dimensions
- Fitting mixed portrait and rotated landscape sheets for printing
- Adding centred blank margins without changing paragraph layout
- Preparing a custom-sized reading copy while retaining the source
Frequently asked questions
How do I change PDF page size to A4?+
Open an ordinary PDF, choose A4 and an orientation, then set the minimum margin. Inspect a representative fit preview and create the resized PDF. Every saved page uses the selected A4 dimensions.
Does this convert A4 to Letter without cropping?+
It proportionally fits the source's already-visible page inside the target margin. It does not intentionally crop that visible area or stretch it. Content already outside the source CropBox is not brought back into view.
Can I resize mixed portrait and landscape PDF pages?+
Yes, within supported page geometry. Each page's visible crop and declared quarter-turn rotation are considered separately before fitting it onto the same target sheet. Preview and inspect a representative page of each input shape.
Will resizing reflow text or reduce the PDF file size?+
No. This scales a page's existing layout, not its paragraphs. File size can increase or decrease and compression is not promised. Use the original document editor for line breaks and PDF Compress for a file-weight task.
Why is the top margin larger than the side margin?+
The margin is a minimum on every edge. Proportional fitting leaves extra space in one direction when page proportions differ, and that extra space is centred. Stretching the content to fill both dimensions would distort it.
Can this resize a signed, annotated or interactive PDF?+
Those features are unsupported. Detected form/signature structures and pages with annotations or links are refused because their behaviour and appearances cannot reliably transfer in this workflow. This tool does not validate signatures or prove that a file is unsigned. Keep the original and export a separate ordinary copy when appropriate.
