Insert Blank PDF Pages
Insert empty PDF pages at original positions with chosen sizes and a complete page map.
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your data is never uploaded, never stored, and never leaves your device.
Insert empty PDF pages before or after chosen original physical positions, using matching displayed sizes or explicit A4/Letter paper.
How to use it
- 1Choose a PDF and original positions such as 1,3-5 or all.
- 2Set placement, blanks per position and paper size.
- 3Create the copy, review the output map and inspect the saved PDF.
Example
- Input
- 3 source pages Original positions: 1,3 After; one blank per position
- Output
- Source 1, Blank, Source 2, Source 3, Blank 5 output pages
The second target is original page 3, regardless of the earlier insertion.
What happens to your data
The PDF stays in this browser. Settings changes invalidate temporary outputs; already downloaded files remain on your device. This is not sanitization or signature-preserving editing.

Add genuinely empty pages to an existing PDF without uploading it. Choose original page positions and insert one or more blanks before or after each one. Match each selected page's displayed size, or use A4 or US Letter in portrait or landscape. A complete output map distinguishes source pages from new blank sheets before you download the result.
This helps when a duplex document needs a deliberate separator or a reading copy needs space for handwritten notes. It does not duplicate a page, hide an existing page's content or detect where a chapter ought to start. You choose the insertion locations.
How it works
Choose one PDF, enter original physical page positions such as 1,3-5 or all, choose Before or After, and set 1–10 blanks per position. Create PDF with blanks makes a new copy. Every original page appears once and stays in its original relative order. Page positions always refer to the original file: inserting a blank after page 1 does not shift the meaning of a later selection for original page 3. Repeated positions and reversed ranges are refused rather than silently changing the number of inserts.
For a three-page source, positions 1,3 with one blank after each produces source 1, blank, source 2, source 3, blank. Using all and After inserts a blank after every original page, including the final page. If you only want gaps between pages, select 1 through the next-to-last original page. Printed page numbers, Roman-numeral front matter and viewer labels are not used for selection.
Match selected page's displayed size uses the intersection of the page's CropBox and MediaBox, then accounts for a declared rotation of 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees. A selected page displayed as 560 × 380 points receives a 560 × 380-point blank with rotation 0. The blank does not inherit off-page content, annotations or the original page's nonzero coordinate origin. A4 is 210 × 297 mm; Letter is 612 × 792 points. The orientation control swaps those preset edges, while Match follows the selected original's own displayed orientation.
The source is limited to 25 MiB and 300 pages; the resulting file must still fit 300 pages and 50 MiB. Each output edge must remain supported. Invalid geometry, non-standard UserUnit, encrypted/damaged files, detected forms/signature/certification structures, annotations, links and page actions are rejected. The operation copies supported original pages rather than intentionally rasterizing them, but it does not transfer document-level bookmarks, attachments, tags or logical page labels. Keep the original and check the new PDF in the recipient's reader. Adding blanks is not a signature-preserving edit, sanitization process, content redaction or PDF accessibility certification.
The output map lists each new physical position, its source or Blank label, original position where applicable and displayed size in points. A blank is an empty PDF page, not an image of white paper and not a duplicate of another page. It adds no text or artwork. Whether a printer suppresses blank sheets, scales paper, inserts covers or prints single/double-sided is a separate printer setting; inspect the print preview.
PDF reading and creation happen locally in this browser page. The source bytes and filenames are not uploaded by the tool. A JSON map omits filenames and original text, although geometry may still be sensitive in context. Changing settings or input invalidates the previous download. Clear releases the temporary output link, and Cancel prevents a late result from being offered; neither deletes a PDF you previously downloaded onto your device. A synchronous library step may finish its current local computation before cancellation takes effect.
Worked example: Add two deliberate separators
- Input
- 3 source pages Original positions: 1,3 After; one blank per position
- Result
- Source 1, Blank, Source 2, Source 3, Blank 5 output pages
The second target is original page 3, regardless of the earlier insertion.
Common use cases
- Adding note space after selected reading pages
- Preparing explicit separators for a duplex-print workflow
- Adding a matching landscape blank beside a rotated or cropped source page
Frequently asked questions
Can I insert a blank between every page?+
Yes. Select original positions 1 through the next-to-last page and choose After. Selecting all also adds a blank after the final original page.
Does a later page number change after an earlier insert?+
No. All selections refer to original physical page positions. The output map shows their final positions separately.
Is the new blank an image or a copied page?+
Neither. It is an empty PDF page with its own paper dimensions and rotation 0. No source artwork is placed on it.
Why is a matching blank landscape?+
Match follows the visible crop after rotation. A source shown landscape receives a landscape blank even if its raw MediaBox is portrait.
Will my printer preserve every blank?+
That depends on printer settings and software. Disable blank-sheet suppression if appropriate and inspect the print preview; this tool only creates the PDF pages.
