Make a meme from your own local image with top and bottom captions. Place outlined white text over the picture, or choose white banners outside the picture for black captions with a solid background. The preview updates as you type, and Download PNG renders the current captions and settings.

A caption needs to remain readable inside the saved image. Long lines wrap, long words can split, and the chosen text size acts as a maximum: the tool reduces it when necessary to fit the caption area. If the text still cannot fit, it asks you to shorten the caption or choose a larger image instead of exporting clipped words.

How it works

Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP no larger than 10 MiB, 12 million pixels or 8,192 pixels per side. File signatures and dimensions are checked before decoding, with a second size check afterward. SVG, GIF, HEIC and PDF are unsupported. Replacing the image clears the previous preview and export immediately, including when the replacement is invalid.

The full browser-oriented picture is retained without cropping. Its longest side is reduced to at most 1,200 pixels, with no enlargement of smaller inputs. Overlay captions use separate top and bottom regions, each occupying 36% of the image height. Banners add white space outside the picture only when their corresponding caption is non-empty. Each banner is 22% of the rendered image width, rounded to a whole pixel, with an 80-pixel minimum.

Each caption accepts up to 240 characters. Line breaks are respected, spaces are normalized for wrapping, and long unbroken words split where needed. The font size can be set from 20 to 100 pixels and automatically shrinks as low as 8 pixels to fit. Very small or unusually narrow pictures may still leave insufficient room. Reset captions and style restores the example captions, overlay layout, uppercase setting and 48-pixel maximum while keeping your image.

PNG export is generated from a fresh rendering of the current controls. Editing a caption or layout invalidates any earlier file offered to the next tool, so an old export is not passed along by mistake. The output contains flattened pixels with a white background, not editable text layers or the original photo metadata. Animated inputs become one still image. Font availability, emoji rendering and browser color handling can affect the result between devices. Your picture and captions are processed locally without an image upload.

Worked example: add two banners to a landscape picture

Input: 1,000 × 600 image; top HELLO; bottom WORLD; white banners
Result: 1,000 × 1,040 PNG, including two 220-pixel caption banners

The original picture remains 1,000 × 600 between the banners. Empty captions do not add a banner.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add top and bottom text to a picture?＋

Choose a local picture, edit the two caption fields and select the overlay layout. The preview places outlined white text in separate top and bottom areas. Download PNG saves the current preview as a flattened image.

Why did my text get smaller?＋

The size control is a maximum. Captions wrap and shrink to stay inside their assigned area. Shorter captions, fewer manual line breaks or the white-banner layout can allow larger text.

Does a white banner crop my photo?＋

No. Banners add space above and below the complete picture. The picture may be scaled down to fit the 1,200-pixel maximum side, but its aspect ratio is retained. A blank top or bottom caption omits that banner.

Will the download include my latest edit?＋

Yes. Download PNG redraws from the current caption and style values when you click. An edit also clears the previous file from the optional next-tool handoff, so you must export the updated image before passing it onward.

Can I edit the caption after saving?＋

The downloaded PNG stores captions as pixels. Keep this page open to revise them and export again, or retain a copy of your original picture. The PNG itself has no editable text layer.

Are pictures or captions sent to a server?＋

No. The selected raster is decoded and drawn in your browser, and the PNG is created there. This tool does not call an image-generation service or upload your file.
