Join Images
Join images side by side or vertically with exact spacing, alignment and local PNG export.
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your data is never uploaded, never stored, and never leaves your device.
Join Images combines still PNG or JPEG files horizontally or vertically, with explicit original-size or equal-dimension fitting, spacing, margins and a PNG download.
How to use it
- 1Select local images or use examples, then check and reorder the list.
- 2Choose direction, sizing, alignment and background; inspect the live preview and exact dimensions.
- 3Create joined PNG and download the current composition.
Example
- Input
- 100 × 60 and 40 × 100 images; horizontal original sizes; centered; gap 10; margin 5
- Output
- 160 × 110 PNG
Image origins are (5, 25) and (115, 5); no source is cropped or resized.
What happens to your data
Images are checked, decoded and composed locally without uploading source files or filenames. The new PNG does not copy original metadata or color profiles; browser color conversion can affect pixels.

Join images side by side or stack them vertically into a single PNG. Choose the order, spacing and outer margin, then inspect an updating preview and exact output dimensions before downloading. Original-size mode keeps each decoded image at its existing size; equal-size mode gives a row one shared height or a column one shared width. Neither mode crops your images.
This is a focused image combiner for comparison panels, sequential screenshots and simple image strips, not a template-driven collage editor. It does not add labels, overlap images or automatically match photographed scenes. Use Image Contact Sheet for a labeled multi-row overview, or Image Splitter when you need to divide a picture rather than join several.
How it works
Choose 1–24 still PNG or ordinary 8-bit JPEG files, then use the earlier/later buttons to change selection order. Removing an image does not change your original file. Choosing a new selection replaces the previous selection rather than appending to it. The example button creates three local sample images so you can explore the controls without providing a file.
Horizontal joins add the image widths; vertical joins add their heights. Spacing is inserted only between neighboring images. Outer margin is added on all four sides. In original-size mode, the shorter dimension is aligned to Start, Center or End inside the longest image's cross-axis. Center alignment rounds the near-side padding down when the difference is odd. For example, a 100 × 60 image followed by a 40 × 100 image, joined horizontally with 10px spacing, 5px margin and center alignment, produces 160 × 110 pixels. The first image begins at (5, 25), and the second at (115, 5).
Equal height for horizontal strips or equal width for vertical strips proportionally resizes every image to the selected dimension. The other dimension is rounded to the nearest whole pixel, with a minimum of one. It can enlarge small images and may soften them; use original sizes when resampling is unwanted. Equal sizing is a fit without cropping, not an exact matching of image areas. The output dimensions shown beside the preview describe the full PNG, even when the preview is reduced for your screen.
Transparent background retains source alpha and leaves empty space transparent. A chosen solid background also fills transparent regions inside the source images, not just the gaps. The checkerboard is a display aid and is never saved. PNG export is losslessly compressed, but browser decoding, orientation and color conversion mean the operation is not byte-preserving. Original EXIF, metadata and color profiles are not copied into the PNG.
Supported files are still PNG through 8-bit and ordinary 8-bit JPEG; APNG, GIF, WebP, SVG, HEIC, 16-bit PNG and compound JPEG are rejected. Limits are 10 MiB per file, 50 MiB per selection and 32 million decoded source pixels combined. Each image and the final canvas must fit 12 million pixels and 8,192px per side; the exported PNG must fit 60 MiB. Spacing and margin each allow 0–512 whole pixels. Reduce the equal height/width or choose fewer images if the planned canvas is too large. Image checks, decoding and rendering happen locally without uploading source files or filenames. Any changed setting, reorder, replacement or Clear action invalidates the previous download.
Worked example: Combine different-sized panels without cropping
- Input
- 100 × 60 and 40 × 100 images; horizontal; original sizes; center; gap 10px; margin 5px
- Result
- 160 × 110 PNG; image origins (5, 25) and (115, 5)
Width = 100 + 40 + 10 + 2 × 5. Height = max(60, 100) + 2 × 5.
Common use cases
- Combining before-and-after screenshots without stretching either panel
- Stacking ordered steps into one long image for a guide
- Making an equal-height row of product photos with a chosen gap
- Preserving transparent artwork in a simple PNG strip
Frequently asked questions
How do I combine images side by side without resizing?+
Choose Horizontal and Original sizes. The tool retains each decoded image's dimensions and places shorter images according to your alignment choice. The final width is the sum of widths plus gaps and both margins.
Can I join images vertically with the same width?+
Yes. Choose Vertical, select Equal width and enter a whole-pixel width. Every image is proportionally scaled, and the new heights are rounded to whole pixels. There is no cropping, but small images may be enlarged.
Why are there transparent or colored areas inside the result?+
Original-size images can have different heights or widths, leaving unused space. Transparent background retains empty space and image alpha. A solid background fills all empty or transparent areas, including holes inside images.
Can I use GIFs, web images or create an animated result?+
No. Select local still PNG or ordinary JPEG files. Remote image URLs, animated input and animation export are unsupported. The result is one still PNG.
Does the tool keep my metadata or upload my images?+
This workflow decodes and composes images locally, without a source upload. Original metadata and profiles are not copied into the new PNG, and browser color handling can change pixels. Keep original files when archival preservation matters.
